Georgia Power Ball
|
The Power Ball was a replacement for the original game which was called Lotto America, which was the first initiative of The Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL). MUSL was formed when a few states came together in effort to realize lager jackpots that would match other states that had far exceeded them in terms of payout. Georgia Lottery was active in the MUSL until 1996 when Power Balled replaced LOTTO*America, this made history, as Georgia became the only state lottery to left the Power Ball. This resulted in MUSL making a ruling that Georgia, would be ineligible to return until 2010. Georgia Power Ball was never given the chance to proceed until January 31, 2010 after the group that Georgia Lottery belongs to. Mega Millions signed a cross-selling agreement with MUSL. This resulted in the allowance of both parties to sell in each others states. The agreement of cross-selling Power Ball and Mega millions kicked into action on January 2010, when members of Power Ball and Mega millions started engaging in selling a lottery product that before not legal in the affected states. By February 2010, the first set of drawings took place.
Since being on the scene, Georgia Power Ball has exploded into its own doing quite well in the Peach state. The power ball game is played in the same way across states. The Initial Payout starts at US $20 million and ads up each week until someone wins the jackpot, which would reset the jackpot to $20mil. This allows for some gigantic jackpots at times.
You are required in this game to choose 6 balls in total, 5 white balls (regular numbers) and a red ball (the power ball). To win the Jackpot you would need to match 5 regular numbers along with the power ball, the order of the numbers do not matter. However, Georgia Power Ball, like its other counterparts offers more than one way to win as an attracting factor. In fact Power Ball boasts that they offer 9 ways to win, the ways are explained like this.
Match 5 and the Power Ball-------------JACKPOT Match 5 without the Power Ball--------$200,000 Match 4 and the Power Ball---------------$10,000 Match 4 without the Power Ball--------------$100 Match 3 and the Power Ball-------------------$100 Match 3 without the Power Ball-----------------$7 Match 2 and the Power Ball----------------------$7 Match 1 and the Power Ball----------------------$4 Match only the Power Ball-----------------------$3 Each ticket cost exactly US$1 In addition to the above mentioned ways to win, Georgia Power Ball offers a feature which can enhance the jackpot pay 2 – 5 times its value. This option is called the power play, to select that option you will be charged an extra US $1. A perfect example of the power play in action would be a person matching 5 numbers and missing the Power Ball on the power play. Now as mentioned before in the table, the pay out for matching 5 balls without the Power Ball would be $200,000, but with Power Play the winning prize would be one million dollars. The Draw is every Wednesday and Saturday @ 10. 59pm EST and is shown live on a host of major stations in the state. The results are also ready available online as well as in the newspapers and television announcements. Previously, Georgia Power Ball tickets could be only be purchased in Georgia, but you could win as a tourist visiting. This was the case for all Lottery Games.
